Keep Dalton-Whitfield Beautiful Business Beautification Micro-Grant is an effort to help local businesses create inviting and beautiful spaces that are owned by the business and visible to the public. These grants are up to $500 each and can be used for exterior beautification improvements and all local business owners are encourage to apply. Thank you for helping keep Dalton and Whitfield beautiful! Submissions must be submitted by October 1, 2024. Businesses will receive an email or call on October 4, 2024 with information on the status of their application. Projects are expected to be completed by December 31, 2024.

Application Requirements

  • The business or organization is locally owned and located in Whitfield County, GA (schools are eligible to apply)

  • A concept with description, drawing, and/or picture of the proposed improvement

  • An existing picture of the project area

  • An itemized project cost estimate

  • Improvements in harmony with Dalton city codes and ordinances or Whitfield County codes and ordinances

How Funds Can Be Used

  • Exterior Painting

  • Exterior Murals

  • Signage

  • Awnings

  • Planters

  • Landscape plant material

  • Perennial Plant Material (recurring color)

  • Pressure Washing

  • Sod

  • Topsoil

  • Mulch

  • Labor costs associated with above items

How Funds Cannot Be Used

  • Administration

  • Interior Improvements

  • Office Furnishings

  • Annual Plant Material (seasonal color)

Eligibility

  • Applicants may be either owners or current tenants (must provide owner’s written consent) of existing nonresidential-developed properties in Whitfield County or the City of Dalton

  • Current or proposed use of the property must conform to applicable zoning regulations. Nonconforming uses will not be considered.

  • The owner of the proposed property must reside locally


Agreement

I have read the Keep Dalton-Whitfield Business Beautification (KDWB) Grant Program overview and fully understand the agreement. My project [does / does not ] require a building permit. The owner’s written and signed permission is attached, if applicant is not owner. An existing picture of the project area and a drawing, description and/or picture of the proposed improvement are/is attached. An itemized project cost estimate is attached.

I understand that the Keep Dalton-Whitfield Business Beautification Grant Program must be used in the manner described in this application, and the application must be approved by the Keep Dalton-Whitfield Beautiful Beautification Committee prior to commencement of any project. I understand that failure to comply with the approved application may result in a forfeiture of all grant funds. I understand that failure to complete the project by December 31, 2024 will result in the forfeiture of all grant funds.

Application Awards

The Keep Dalton-Whitfield Business Beautification Grant Program application will be scored using the Program Matrix and then determined and approved by the KDWB Beautification Committee. Businesses will receive an email and call on September 8, 2023 with information on the status of their application. Submissions must be submitted by September 1, 2023. Projects are expected to be completed by December 31, 2024.
