2023 Beautification Grant Project Summary Report Form
Introduction: Keep Dalton-Whitfield Beautiful’s committee for Beautification and Community Greening once again congratulates the recipients of the annual National Planting Day mini-grant. Beautification grants ranged from a minimum of $150 to a maximum of $500.
Projects should take place in the fall and be completed no later than Saturday, December 2, 2023. Project summaries and photos are due no later than Saturday, December 2, 2023.
Below is a list of organizations that were awarded a grant and the name of their project.
1. Los Pablos Mexican Restaurant - Their project make the outdoor area look more welcoming with paint, mulch, and plantings and paint the light poles.
2. Community Housing Resource Corporation / Dalton Housing Authority - The goal of this project is to help bring more pollinators to the area, create a welcoming atmosphere for all who visit the community resource center, and create a hands-on education area. The garden will not only help our local ecosystem but also create an area of pride for local residents. The Community Resource Center houses the Dalton Public School Little Cats program (a preschool community class for both child and parent) as well as a local Girl Scouts Troop. The garden will help serve as an outdoor education area for the Little Cats & Girl Scouts troop. They will monitor the pollinators and animals present in the garden throughout the year.
3. Arcus Gaming – They will be renovating our current awning over our entrance by repairing, strengthening, and painting it. We would also like to add a name and address sign to our entrance.
4. City Park Elementary - They are working hard to make all the spaces at school available as learning environments. They have turned an old, unused space into a beautiful area with a mural along the wall. Now they need benches to cover the drainage pipes and to provide seating to make it completely accessible and student friendly.
5. Family Support Council - Their goal is to freshen up our yard sign and create curb appeal by utilizing items such as planters, perennial plant material, and mulch. All other funds will go towards updating signage.
Project Summary Overview: Grantees will submit a short project summary that will include volunteer hours, actual costs, list of other organizations involved, evaluation of project meeting the goal/purpose intended, and before and after photos. Certificates of participation for students are available upon request - a list of student names must be sent in with the summary. For questions about or issues with the summary report call executive director Amy Hartline at 706-278-5001 or e-mail: ahartline@dwswa.org.
