Adopt a Mile from Keep Dalton-Whitfield Beautiful is available to businesses, organizations, schools, families, and individuals in Whitfield County, Georgia. Each organization is invited to adopt a road that is half a mile to one mile in length, and commit to removing litter from both sides of the road at least 4 times per year (once per quarter).

Cleanup supplies like safety vests, gloves, and litter grabbers can be borrowed from KDWB if enough notice is given. Trash bags are also available thanks to a generous sponsorship by GLAD through Keep America Beautiful.

After each cleanup groups are required to submit a cleanup status report. Certificates of participation are available for volunteers upon request. Photos submitted with the report may be posted on social media to thank and recognize the volunteers for helping to keep our city and county beautiful.

Will you make the commitment to do 4 clean ups this year? To participate download the guide, or call 706-278-5001 to discuss adoption options.

Adopt-a-Mile is an easy to implement program that you can participate in each quarter of the year on the date and time of your group’s choosing.  The number of participants can be small or large, and the amount of time you spend cleaning up a roadway is completely up to you.

Roads that have been adopted are recognized by the placement of an Adopt-a-Mile sign with the adopting organization’s name at both the beginning and end of the mile.  To qualify for the road signs, you’ll need to complete four reported cleanups within the 1 year of joining the program. To help cover the cost of two road signs a donation of $75.00 is suggested.
